It Was A Dark And Stormy Night

It was a dark and stormy night. I was nestled in my bed when I heard a cat fight next to the trash and compost that decorate my outside window frame. I handled this my usual way; making a loud noise by hitting the window with any object around me. It scared them off and I turned back to my book. I heard a rustle and tapping a few minutes later. It didn't subside until I heard a loud Korean voice. Blood pressure rising, I stepped out of bed and raised my curtain. Nothing was there. Hmm. Getting back under the covers, I heard the voice again. I got up and I paced around, deliberating what I should do. I heard tapping again. I raced over and ripped the curtain up. My eyes were met with a mess of black hair and a ghostlike face.

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

It was an adjumma!!!

And then I woke up. Exhale. It was just a dream.

I can't believe I haven't touched on this subject more. An adjumma is an older Korean woman. Sometimes the definition of an adjumma includes "with children" or "running a business". Adjummas are special. They are notorious. They are ridiculous. And I think they are downright scary. In the summertime, they can be spotted with Dark Vader-esque visors. In the winter-with their new pomos (perms) and floral gloves. AND ANYTIME by their fussy 'tudes and elbowing tactics.

Here is the best example I have stumbled upon: Click here.

No joke. I have had friends hospitalized. A recent adjumma interaction forced me to realize how accustomed I am to their behavior. I was buying strawberries and I went to the vendor to purchase them. As I was getting my money out, an adjumma started hitting my arm as she talked to the vendor. I ignored her. She tried to take them out of my hand and when I didn't let go, she kept hitting my arm. I had taken the best strawberries and as an adjumma, she was entitled to those strawberries.

I think it's laughable but I also adamantly believe that an adjumma would be the perfect villain in a horror movie.
