I am usually content with exploring cities on my own but Tokyo is HUGE and I only had a couple of days. Straight off the train from Kyoto, I signed up for the TOKYO CITYRAMA AFTERNOON TOUR which included Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace, Ginza, Senso-Ji temple and surrounding areas.
After navigating my way to the meeting point, I boarded a big hybrid bus and our tour guide went off into long tangent about the bus. How much it cost, when they bought it, where they bought it,etc. It is safe to say I know more about that bus than any place we visited. He herded us around the sights quickly spewing some small facts and when we got back on the bus he would go off on a long deviation that had absolutely nothing to do with the sights. Here was a little bit of my favorite tangent:
(Please read with a Japanese accent)
And to the left we have KFC or Kentucky Fried Chicken. If you like fried chicken you should eat at KFC. The founder being Colonel Sanders. Colonel Sanders. Great American hero. He is my personal hero. He started KFC when he was 60 years old. Many Americans eat fried chicken and blame it on thier bad health but many Japanese eat fried chicken and live a very long time. A very long time. Japanese women live an average of 82 years and Japanese men live an average of 78 years. That is a long time so if you want to live a long time you should look at the way Japanese live and try to live like that. But do not blame fried chicken for your bad health.
After that he talked about the stores along the street that were starting to sell decorations for fall.
