S Bar

I live in Northeastern Seoul. It's pretty far away from the hot nightlife spots so when my friend Danielle and I saw a snazzy "S Bar wine and spirit" sign we started joking about hitting it up. One night, too lazy to trek to Hongdae, we decided to head to S Bar. We figured we could gesture to order drinks and maybe the people there wouldn't take notice of two big white chicks. We walked in and it was completely empty. The bartenders were pretty cute. All women with matching outfits and matching dumbfounded looks. Reluctantly, they gave us a drink menu and it looked pretty expensive. I wanted wine, as advertised by the sign, but was surprised to find that there was no wine on the menu. We decided to stay for a drink and leave. We finished quickly and headed out. We noticed that there was a sign up advertising a whiskey set for 99,000 Won. It seemed a little pricey but Koreans do love alcohol. A couple of weeks later we were walking around with a pretty big group of friends in a different part of Seoul. We passed another bar called "The S Bar" and someone started talking about "sexy bars". Apparently, sexy bars are where men pay a lot of money to spend time with a beautiful woman. All the sudden everything made more sense.
